Animateur, Musical Director & Teacher

Rhiannon is regularly in demand as an animateur with the UK’s major opera companies with work including the Royal Opera House, Glyndebourne, Garsington Opera and many more. As a musical director, Rhiannon was formerly the musical director of St Margaret’s, Putney and the South London Military Wives Choir. She is currently the leader of Putney Youth Choir and a guest tutor at Bristol Youth Choir.

Recently, Rhiannon has enjoyed a close relationship with Glyndebourne’s Learning & Engagement Department. She was the lead vocal coach on Glyndebourne’s 2024 and 2025 Singing Schools Network programme, and has served on audition panels for both Glyndebourne Youth Opera and Glyndebourne Academy. Rhiannon prepared the children’s chorus in partnership with Arlene Rolph for Glyndebourne’s new production of Carmen and was the lead vocal coach for the children’s chorus of Glyndebourne’s 2025 revival of La Bohème; the first in the company’s history which was 100% comprised of non-professional children.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, Rhiannon set up Putney Music School which now welcomes up to 150 children each week and engages a dozen teaching staff. One of the school’s main aims is to provide bursaries & instruments to all children from lower-income households. Rhiannon is passionate that every child should be given the opportunity to learn an instrument. The school has multiple choirs and provides music lessons for children from the age of 3.
